When Anxiety Is a Protector, Not a Problem

Many people experience anxiety as something to eliminate.

But anxiety often exists because a part of you believes it’s necessary for safety.

Anxiety’s Job

From an IFS perspective, anxiety is frequently a protector — alerting you to potential danger, uncertainty, or loss of control.

When anxiety is fought or dismissed, it often escalates.

Working With Anxiety Instead of Against It

Somatic therapy helps calm the body so anxiety doesn’t have to stay on high alert. Parts-based therapy helps anxiety feel heard rather than shamed.

Together, they reduce internal conflict.
